Find an original post or a comment to a post that you find interesting and address the author by name.

Instructions for Commenting
Please comment on at least two articles posted by your classmates. To earn full credit, you must do more than reiterate points the original author made.
1. Find an original post or a comment to a post that you find interesting and address the author by name.
2. Address the points that the original poster (or a commenter makes) and do more than simply agree with the points made. To do so, you can either a) extend the post by calling upon other sources (either assigned readings from this course or elsewhere), your personal experience, or previous posts or b) disagree with a previous post and offer compelling evidence. If you are going to disagree, you MUST do it in a civil manner AND cite sources. Opinions are fine; however, opinions NOT supported by data are just that.
3. Repeat this process once more. You must have at two substantial comments to earn full credit. Substantial comments meet the above criteria. Simply writing longer posts does NOT ensure full credit. There is no minimum word requirement, but it would be difficult (but probably not impossible) to meet the requirements in 1-2 sentences

Provide a brief (2 paragraphs) overview of what, if anything, is being done to address maternal mortality issues in your chosen country. (Hint: are there governmental projects working in this field? Non-governmental projects? Both? Neither?)
Reflect on what else you think could/should be done to address this issue. Consider what has or hasn’t worked previously, whether governmental or non-governmental projects are present or absent, and whether one route may be more or less effective than others.

A Closer Look At Scientific Inquiry
Scientific inquiry shows students how to investigate, constructing their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. It also helps them develop talents such as raising questions, collecting data, reasoning, reviewing evidence and drawing conclusions. (The Science Teacher, n.d.).
The National Research Council (Links to an external site.) says that inquiry helps the learner engage in scientifically oriented questions which sparks curiosity, it gives priority to evidence in responding to questions, it helps formulate explanations from evidence, it connects explanations to scientific knowledge and finally, helps the student to communicate and justify explanations. Scientific inquiry is still important even if you’re not a scientist. It is a process that is used in our daily life, in the simplest tasks that we do, such as: cooking, budgeting or making health related decisions.
What is a Hypothesis?
It is a testable statement or prediction about what you expect to happen during a research or study. (Cherry, 2020). A hypothesis should be formulated after conducting a background research and seeing previous studies, then it should be tested by experiments that will allow you to draw a conclusion on whether your hypothesis was correct or not.
Is a Hypothesis Always Right?
A hypothesis does not always have to be correct. The purpose of your whole research is to determine whether your prediction is right or wrong. After conducting your research and testing your theory, you may find that the results do not support your original hypothesis. In this case, it doesn’t mean that you have failed, but you should publish your results because it can be helpful for others later when they are conducting the same research. (Cherry, Forming a Good Hypothesis for Scientific Research, 2020).
Example of a hypothesis:
One question that you might ask yourself is: Why are people in my community not doing physical activities?
After defining the problem, you look at previous studies and research about the same problem. You find for example that for this problem the reasons can be that the streets and urban designs are not suitable for walking or biking activities.
After conducting your research, you formulate your hypothesis based on it and on the observations of your neighborhood. For example, your hypothesis might be: If the neighborhood had better zoning, then people would walk and bike.
Steps In Scientific Inquiry

Reflection Post Guidelines
Write a 150-word reflection that addresses the following: (Number Your Answers)
Out of the five health domains we will be researching, which one or two do you think are the biggest health challenges facing your community? Explain why you think so. (For Example: Pedestrian Safety and Risk is the biggest health challenge in my community because walking paths are not maintained and they don’t feel safe. Also lack of features that Promote Physical Activity is another challenge because we only have 2 green spaces and people don’t actively use them in my community. I think these are clear issues based on my data in my City Health Profile as well as my personal experience).
Create a 2-sentence hypothesis, in terms of the 5 health domains we will be observing during observations.
Example Hypothesis: Decreased pedestrian safety and lack of features that promote physical activity are the greatest health challenges facing my community. If pedestrian safety in parks and walking paths are improved and walking paths are regularly maintained in my city, people will increase their physical activity, and the community will become more healthy.

Learning Goal: I’m working on a population health multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
In this module you will conduct an essential piece of your Citizen Science project, that will help you as you go into your community to collect data and analyze findings later. This stage is critical and you will use the following PDF packet and instructions to create your community health profile. The reason you will look at data from your city, county, and state, is that not all health data is collected specifically for certain cities and towns, or certain counties, sometimes some data may only be available at the state level, or sometimes even only at the county level. By creating this profile, you will get a better picture of the health of your community and what the unique challenges your community faces.
Be sure to read through the assignment checklist to ensure that all of the needed items are enclosed for submission. Also note that each health profile indicates which resources are needed to find the appropriate information, using color coded circles at the top.
