GWS 141 Final Research Paper Informed by course materials and individual academi

GWS 141 Final Research Paper
Informed by course materials and individual academic interests, write a final research
paper that articulates a unique research topic and questions, addresses them through
original data analysis, and reflects on the significance and implications of the findings. Papers should be Times New Roman, 12
font, double-spaced 5-7 pages (excluding references page and any images).
Deadline to submit your final paper on December 8, Thursday, 5pm. Upload as a word
document to the drop box at the course website.
1) Choose a topic and ask research questions. Informed by class discussions, define a topic
that is limited enough to allow you to focus on in a term paper but open enough to allow you
to engage with the larger issues of culture, gender, and capitalism.
2) Conduct a mini-research. Read/listen/watch and take notes on a modest amount of
visual, audio and/or textual content such as advertisements, tv shows, a movie, postcards,
zines, etc. In your paper, clearly describe your data and explain why you picked it. Analyze
your data in the light of your research questions using one or more of the methods we
practiced in class.
3) Analyze. What does your examination of your data tell about your research questions?
Consider how the phenomenon you analyze is shaped by the intersection of gender,
sexuality, race/ethnicity, and class inequalities. Reflect on the significance and relevance of
your findings.
Paper Checklist:
-Title and subtitles
-An introduction containing your research topic and questions
-A description of your data
-References to at least 3 course sources
-A conclusion reflecting on significance of your findings
-A references page with coherently formatted citations (choose a style like MLA, ASA, etc)

What I wanted to write about:(topic)
Topic: Fairytales
Question 1: How do little girls get affected by the fairytales in their future lives?
Question 2: Is there a difference between children who were told fairytales when they were younger and children who just went straight to bed?
Choose one question from the top or create a question about fairytales compared to the culture that is now!
I chose to write about fairytales and how they affect children at such a young age, especially little girls who thrive to want to be treated like these princesses are. Girls are very easily seen as the weakling and are therefore seen as needing a prince in order to be strong and safe, which in many cases is what many fairytale stories show such as rapunzel, cinderella, snow white and even sleeping beauty. These specific movies show the little influenced girls that men have to constantly be by their sides in order to feel safe and protected when going outside of your safe zone. Most of these movies as well show the women as very nice and considerate and naive as well which in many cases makes the little girls feel as if they have to be like that in order to get a prince and be saved from their little bubble that they have been kept in for so long. The data I want to analyze is “Zipes, Happily Every After,” as well as “Martin, Hetero- Romantic love and Heterosexiness In Children’s G-Rated Films.” They both talk about the topic that I want to discuss in depth and explain why what they show in the movies is wrong because of the heavily influential ability these movies have on the minds of the little kids who watch it, especially the girls who feel like they have to act a certain way in order to feel the same way these princesses do.
Requirements: 5-7 Full Pages Times New Roman Size 12 Font Double-Spaced MLA Format Excluding the Works Cited Page

Please be sure to carefully follow the instructions
No plagiarism & No Course Hero & No Chegg. The assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool

Part II – Contemporary understanding of Gender identity
You are a young professional counselor for LGBT issues, working at Williamsburg NY community mental health center.
Brad and Dana are Dannie’s parents, a 5 years old girl who prefers wearing boy clothes, climbs trees and plays rugby.
She seems happy most of the time, especially when allowed to engage in her favorite activities, but when her parents encourage her to invite other girls for a playdate or when asked to participate in a “girls only” gathering, she becomes sad and asks to cancel the playdate. Her parents are worried that she might have gender identity issues.
As young professionals, what are two possible and different plausible explanations for Dannie’s situation? What would you advise the parents for the near future? What are possible outcomes for Dannie’s future?
In your answer please use at least 3 of the following terms and theories discussed in class:
core gender identity, gender role identity, gender dysphoria, gender rigidity, gender creativity, transgender, gender creativity, non-binar.
Avoid exceeding 450 words in your response (Part II).
Please keep in mind I already composed something and I need help revising and making sure my work is correct.
Refer to the power point posted.
This is what I have so far..
Being a young professional counselor working at Williamsburg NY community mental health center makes it evident to me that Dannie is struggling with gender identity issues in her early childhood. Brad and Dana must analyze the way Dannie is acting and further treat this. Dannie is struggling with gender rigidity and rejecting what is deemed socially appropriate for her gender which is playdates with other children that are the same gender. So much so that it might lead to these explanations.. My advice to Dannie’s parents would be to try to disconnect gender from activities I would share with them that Gender Dysphoria may be a possible disorder Dannie is showing signs of. Gender dysphoria is a subjective disorder of mood experienced by people whose psychological gender is incongruent with their biological sex. In other words, the disorder is a feeling of unease because of gender identity contemplation. In Dannie’s situation, she was very upset once told she is having a playdate with girls. She shows signs of Gender dysphoria gender nonconformity and since Dannie is at such a young age and beginning her treatment with therapeutic work is bound to help her [her] gender now] and see if these attitudes continue or if she begins to feel comfortable with her own gender. This needs to be addressed carefully and will protect Dannie from social exclusion in her childhood. Another explanation for what Dannie is feeling is transgenderism or nonbinary. Transgenderism is identifying with the sex opposite to the one assigned at birth. After analyzing Dannie and if she may be transgender The unchangeable sense of being a boy or girl that solidified by the end of the second year; it is closely tied to the biological base and offers a binary choice of male versus female (Stoller, 1985) The main objective is to help Dannie so she has a healthy childhood that leads to a future where she is confident in her own skin and identity. In conclusion outcomes for Dannie’s future may be…..
